The executive committee confirmed the April 10 meeting summary and approved the minutes by a vote of eight in favor, zero opposed and one abstention, staff announced during the open portion of the May 8 meeting. (Motion made and seconded; voting was conducted via a chat link.)
Chair opened the meeting and reviewed the agenda, saying the open portion would be followed by a closed session. The chair also announced that a second national town hall will be held Wednesday, May 13 at 3 p.m. and that the session will include updates on current and upcoming OPTN activities and an update from Health Resources and Services Administration colleagues. Members were asked to register for the town hall and to submit questions in advance.
The chair further announced a national election for the positions of secretary and for vice president for patient donor affairs. Voting will take place May 15 through May 22; the newly elected officers will begin their terms on July 1, 2026. The chair noted the vice president position is not on the ballot this cycle because of a prior one-year extension intended to support board continuity.
During a question-and-answer exchange, a committee member asked about turnout for the previous town hall. Doug, staff member, said, "We had roughly 850 individuals participate in the first town hall at the highest point," and added that some organizations likely listened as teams, which could increase the effective audience.
After these items the chair said the executive committee would move into closed session for the remainder of the meeting and thanked those who tuned in to listen. The open session concluded without further formal public actions.
