Prince George’s County delegates unanimously approved advancing a committee‑reported bill that would increase the county state's attorney’s salary from $199,000 to $250,000.
Delegate Ivy presented county affairs' report and counsel summarized the bill’s key provision: the salary amendment takes effect at the beginning of the next term of office (the next state's attorney general election in the county is Nov. 2026). The change is drawn to conform with constitutional requirements on pay for elected county officers.
Delegates moved and seconded the committee report and recorded unanimous support in the delegation. The measure will proceed through the usual legislative steps to appear on the House side as HB1222.
The delegation did not attach caveats in committee, but delegates discussed budget oversight and expectations that any salary increase align with county budget and legal requirements.
