Harrisburg School Board approves food service contract with OPAA!, adopts policies and insurance coverage

The Harrisburg School Board on May 12 approved a food service management contract with OPAA! and approved several administrative items including new policies, student accident coverage and the district's financials.

Superintendent Julie Isbell recommended approval of the food service management services proposal and contract with OPAA! for the 2026-2027 school year; the motion, made by Jeremy Lally and seconded by Bridgett Hewitt, carried 4-0. The board also approved a Student Accident Coverage proposal on the same motion pattern (moved by Jeremy Lally; seconded by Bridgett Hewitt; motion carried 4-0).

The board adopted two district policies, numbered 3.45 and 8.37, on final adoption after Superintendent Isbell presented them; Bridgett Hewitt moved and Jeremy Lally seconded the adoption, and the motion carried 4-0. Separately, while one member was temporarily out of the room, the board approved a resolution to comply with A.C.A. 6-24-101 (moved by Bridgett Hewitt, seconded by Ashley Rowton; motion carried 3-0).

The board approved May 2026 invoices and financials (motion by Bridgett Hewitt, seconded by Jeremy Lally; motion carried 4-0), and approved the Supplemental/Stipend schedule for the 2026-2027 school year (moved by Bridgett Hewitt; seconded by Ashley Rowton; motion carried 3-0 while one member was out of the room earlier in the meeting).

Superintendent Isbell also recommended changing the regular June board meeting date to June 15, 2026 and presented the 2026-2027 Board Meeting Dates; both items were approved (motions carried 4-0). The board noted the student achievement reports presented by Superintendent Isbell as informational; no action was taken on those reports.

The board took these votes as routine business on the meeting agenda. The board's next regular meeting was set for June 15, 2026.
