Florence approves budget amendment, local ads, conference travel and business signage
Summary
The board approved Budget Amendment #2 for fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025; authorized a $239 good-luck ad in the Rankin County News, approved conference travel registrations at $125 per person, and approved signage/exterior updates for two local businesses.
At its Aug. 5 meeting the Florence mayor and board approved administrative items including a budget amendment, local advertising, conference travel and business signage.
On the recommendation of City Clerk Linda Wigley the board approved Budget Amendment #2 for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025. The minutes state a copy of the amendment was attached but do not list line-item changes in the minutes.
A motion by Alderman Brian Grantham authorized placement of a $239 "Good Luck Eagles" advertisement in the Rankin County News to promote economic development.
The board also approved sending any of the governing authorities and the deputy city clerk to the Small-Town Conference in Philadelphia, MS and agreed to pay a $125 registration fee per attendee and allowable related costs. Additionally, the board approved signage for Rankin Rowdies (owner Sunny Duhnna) at 15 Jackson Circle and an exterior update for Eagle Car Wash at 106 Crosspark Blvd., both on recommendation of Community Development Director Joel Sims.
The claims docket was approved and the board approved minutes of July 15, 2025; Alderman Brian Grantham recorded an abstention on the minutes approval.
