The Wappingers Central School District Board of Education on May 11 approved routine consent items, confirmed administrative hires and authorized travel for board delegates.
The board voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda (items 4.02–4.10) after a motion by Miss Kelland and a second by Mr. Capalari. President Johnson called the voice vote and announced it carried unanimously.
Superintendent Dwight Bunk told the board it had confirmed two administrative appointments. "The first individual that I would like to welcome back to Wappingers will be the new principal effective July 1 at Fishkill Elementary School, Mr. Rick Sipe," Bunk said, asking Mr. Sipe to stand. He also introduced Monica Contreras as assistant principal at Wappingers Junior High School, joining the district from the Hyde Park School District; both were present and acknowledged by the board.
Board members additionally noted that Mr. Asher's appointment progressed from provisional to permanent; the superintendent described Asher's recent visits to all 15 district buildings and his work with facilities and operations.
On procedural business, the board tabled agenda item 5.01 at a member's request; the motion to table was seconded and approved unanimously. The board also resolved to approve board member attendance at the Dutchess County School Boards Association annual meeting scheduled for June 4, 2026, at MOD Myers Old Dutch (15 College View Avenue, Poughkeepsie) at a cost not to exceed $35 per person; Miss Kelland and Mr. Lumia were listed as attendees and the vote was unanimous.
President Johnson closed the meeting with a reminder about the upcoming budget vote and adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
