OPTN board approves prior meeting summaries and sets election timelines; staff to post FAQ from town halls

The board moved to approve the April 3 and April 16 meeting summaries and, after voting via an online link, the Clerk reported the result as 20 approved, 0 rejected and 1 abstention; the motion passed.
Chair reported the board held two national town halls (April 28 and May 13) with over 1,500 registrants. Staff are consolidating unresolved questions from those sessions and expect to post an FAQ on the OPTN website in the coming weeks.
The Chair also announced a public comment period opened this week for the long continuous distribution proposal and will remain open until July 3 to accommodate holidays. Board members were reminded that the board-approved election slate is open to voting members through May 22, and that an ad hoc board meeting is scheduled for June 5 at 1 p.m. to ratify the results.
During new business, board member Jerry requested a briefing to update the board on investigations into transplant tourism; the Chair agreed to add the item to the next regular meeting agenda and to provide what materials are available while noting some investigative work may be handled by other agencies.
The meeting closed with thanks to attendees and a reminder of the upcoming ad hoc meeting.
