Commissioners opened the meeting with routine procedural business, then the chair administered the oath to the town’s newly appointed election board member (the transcript identifies the person as James Hogewell), adding that the sworn appointee would be the town’s fifth election-board member.
Town staff presented an amended fiscal-year 2025 budget packet and told commissioners the document would be discussed in detail at a work session; staff and commissioners agreed to place the item on the work-session docket with a planned Nov. 3 follow-up. Staff said the amendment reflects pending expense and revenue information and that final bills and grant reimbursements remain outstanding while the audit for FY2025 is underway.
The police department provided a September operational report: 686 calls for service, 79 incidents, 106 reportable offenses, roughly 106 traffic stops, 81 case dispositions and 22 arrests closed by arrest. The chief/agency representative emphasized community policing, de-escalation training and plans to increase marked vehicles to improve visibility. Public works reported about 81 tons of garbage collected in September and described curb, gutter and speed-calming maintenance performed in several neighborhoods.
During citizen comment, Cindy Perry (identified in the transcript as representing the elected board) reported that the election board unanimously approved redistricting recommendations at its Sept. 15 meeting and asked commissioners to review those recommendations before the statutory processing deadline (the transcript cites the first Monday in November). Fletcher Pugh (identified in the transcript as president of the Princeton Chamber) announced an Oct. 13 luncheon and volunteer needs.
The commission then moved to adjourn the open meeting and enter a closed session for personnel matters.
