Special education report: 26 Blue Envelope incidents and safety plans shared with families and agencies

Derek Cooley, presenting the Special Education report to the Godwin Heights Public Schools Board June 8, described the Blue Envelope Program, a suicide-prevention and student-support initiative used districtwide.
Cooley said the program recorded 26 incidents during the current school year. When appropriate, staff developed safety plans and shared them with families, outside agencies and school staff. He identified September, October and February as the months with the highest incidence rates.
The minutes do not include additional demographic breakdowns of the incidents or whether they resulted in referrals or changes to districtwide protocols. Board members received the report as informational; no formal action or policy change was recorded in the minutes related to the Blue Envelope Program during this meeting.
