The Heard County Board of Commissioners on May 19 reappointed two members to the county Library Board and postponed action on a DFACS Board vacancy.
The Library Board reported that neither reappointment would violate any restrictions and recommended that Shirley Craven and Becky Carlisle continue to serve. Commissioners voted unanimously to reappoint Craven and Carlisle for terms running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029.
The Board also considered an appointment to the DFACS Board but received no applications after public notice. On a motion by Commissioner Curtis Mock with a second from Commissioner David Walls, the Board unanimously tabled the DFACS appointment until the June 16, 2026 meeting and directed the clerk to re-advertise the vacancy.
No public comments were offered on these items during the meeting. The Board recorded the votes in the minutes and instructed staff to notify appointees and file the necessary oaths and records.
