Elberta council approves tree removals, speed humps and RFP for Life Saving Station; tables code enforcement contract

On June 18 the council approved a Dunscombe arborist recommendation and $16,000 removal estimate, authorized removable speed humps ($4,000) and a temporary July 4 traffic order, released an RFP for event management at the Elberta Life Saving Station, amended the ACH/EFT policy, and tabled the Code Enforcement Officer contract. All actions passed 4–0 with one absence.
At its June 18 meeting the Elberta Village Council approved several operational items including tree removals recommended by Dunscombe, purchase and installation of removable speed humps, release of a request for proposals for rental/event management of the Elberta Life Saving Station, and an amendment to the village Automated Clearing House (ACH) and electronic transactions policy.
Dunscombe’s arborist tree risk assessment was accepted and staff were authorized to arrange recommended removals at a quoted cost of $16,000. The motion was made by Wilkins and seconded by Holmes; roll call showed four ayes and one absence and the motion passed.
The council approved purchase of removable speed humps for $4,000 plus shipping and handling and authorized the Department of Public Works to install them on Frankfort Avenue and Furnace Street as directed. That motion was made by Wilkins and seconded by Fiebing and passed on roll call.
The council also approved release of an RFP for event management services for the Elberta Life Saving Station and accepted an amendment to Policy #2014-010 (ACH & EFT) as presented. A Code Enforcement Officer contract agreement was discussed but tabled on a motion by Fiebing and seconded by Radionoff.
Additionally, council approved a temporary Traffic Control Order No. 2026-01 governing traffic and parking management in the Elberta beach area for July 4. The meeting record shows routine departmental and committee reports and a five-minute extended public comment period; the minutes do not transcribe comments or identify speakers for the extended public comment session.
