Chadron council discusses surplus auctions, announces election results and completes reorganization

Council reviewed a surplus-property list and authorized staff to sell or dispose of items as appropriate. City staff explained an opportunity to list a replaced airport snow scraper with Purple Wave, an online auction service, and to use local auctioneer Brad Olson for smaller items. Tom said Purple Wave has wide reach and that fees on some items can be about 30 percent; staff recommended quarterly surplus lists and early listing for heavy equipment that sells better before winter.
The meeting record included recently received election results: Lauren Batt Courier (728 votes), Jesse Roberts (710), Clay Anderson (853) and Kevin Lehi (887); the council noted Clay Anderson and Kevin Lehi were elected to council. The council then proceeded with customary reorganization formalities and selection of mayor and vice mayor; members offered thanks to outgoing councilors.
Council members delivered closing remarks and the city manager encouraged residents to 'buy local' and highlighted the Shop with a Cop donation drive. The council then moved to adjourn and the meeting was closed following roll call.
