The San Felipe del Rio CISD Board of Trustees recorded the following formal actions on May 18, 2026. All votes listed are those stated in open session.
- Canvass of May 2, 2026 school board election results: motion to approve canvass (mover: Amy Haines; second: Mrs. Webb). Motion carries.
- Oaths administered to elected trustees: Jesus Emilio Galindo (Place 1), Linda Winawata Webb (Place 3), Brian Weston (Place 4) and Rebecca Luna Chavez (Place 5). (Judge Sergio Gonzalez administered oaths.)
- Election of officers (policy BDAA): Joshua Overfelt elected Board President (unanimous); Emilio Galindo elected Vice President (recorded one abstention); Diego Almaraz elected Secretary (one abstention).
- Consent agenda (as amended): approved. Modification: purchase order to Bell Leadership Institute updated to not exceed $36,244.33 (added participant). Item F3 (Chromebook purchase not to exceed $613,200) tabled pending additional quotes.
- MOU with UT San Antonio (2026—2031) to develop a leadership pipeline/master's cohort: approved unanimously; superintendent authorized to sign.
- Resolution to transport Del Rio Boys and Girls Club participants to Del Rio High School for the Summer Community Meal Program (funded by the Summer Child Nutrition Fund): approved unanimously.
- Human-resources conversions and approvals: multiple position conversions and new job descriptions approved unanimously, including the conversion of the Del Rio Freshman vice principal to high school associate principal, creation of an assistant principal intern funded by grant funds, conversion to a LIFT grant math curriculum coordinator, and updated job descriptions and compensation plan for 2025-26.
- Personnel report: board approved resignations, retirements and new hires presented in closed session (new hires announced in open session included Ernesto Pena and Daisy Hernandez); additional hires for counselors and a transportation coordinator were approved.
The board went into closed session under Texas Education Code sections referenced for personnel matters and attorney consultation and returned to open session with the personnel report approved.
