Commissioner McCam urged the change, saying the road is a short dead-end segment that nevertheless carries a “substantial amount of traffic” and that residents in the area requested the lower limit. The court opened a public hearing and called for speakers; none came forward and the hearing was closed before the commissioners took a vote.
The motion to establish the 30 mph limit was made and seconded and passed by a unanimous voice vote. The court’s action follows the hearing process required under county practice; no appeals or traffic-engineering studies were presented at the meeting.
The court moved on to other routine business after the vote. The order to set the speed limit will be processed by county staff and implemented according to county procedures.
