During its May 8, 2025 regular meeting in St. Joseph, the Tensas Parish School Board approved a series of routine and administrative actions, including a request that the Louisiana Legislature authorize a land exchange involving school indemnity land and adoption of a policy revision.
The board approved a motion to request legislative authority to exchange approximately 4.175 acres of school indemnity land located in Section 9, Township 12N, Range 12E in exchange for approximately 1.597 acres located in Section 16, Township 12N, Range 12E, with other consideration. The motion was moved by Mr. John L. Turner and seconded by Mrs. Annice Miller; the motion passed. The minutes do not specify the other consideration or whether the exchange is contingent on additional approvals.
Other actions recorded in the minutes included receiving the March financial statement and budget-to-actual update (motion by Mr. George Matthews, seconded by Mr. John L. Turner); waiving first reading and adopting a revision to FILE: BCAB Regular Meetings (motion by Mr. George Matthews, seconded by Mrs. Knola Ransome); approving issuance of June sales tax checks for all employees (motion by Mr. John L. Turner, seconded by Mrs. Annice Miller); and approving minutes from the April 10, 2025 regular meeting (motion by Mr. George Matthews, seconded by Mrs. Annice Miller). Each motion was recorded as "Motion passed" but the minutes do not include roll-call vote tallies.
The meeting concluded after Superintendent Joyce M. Russ provided routine announcements about upcoming graduations and school events. The board adjourned following a motion by Mr. John L. Turner, seconded by Mrs. Annice Miller.
