Elberta Village Council adopts wage increases, land-division ordinance and approves vehicle and service payments

At its May 21 meeting the Elberta Village Council adopted two wage-and-compensation amendments, approved Ordinance No. 47 (land division), awarded a website redesign contract, authorized a new truck purchase, and approved several routine expenditures and event permits. All motions passed unanimously; one member recused from a payroll vote.
The Elberta Village Council convened May 21 and approved a package of personnel, planning and procurement measures, including wage adjustments, an adopted land-division ordinance and authorization to buy a new public works truck. The council also awarded a website redesign contract and approved payments for utility- and infrastructure-related services.
Council member Holmes moved to approve the April 16 minutes and the motion passed unanimously. The council then approved the meeting agenda with one item removed because amphitheater bids had not yet been received.
The council approved the FY2026 check register (accounts payable) covering April 10–May 14, 2026, totaling $62,717.12. It also approved payroll for the same period totaling $19,173.00; Councilmember Wilkins recused from that payroll vote and the remaining members voted aye.
On personnel matters the council adopted Resolution #2026-001a, amending the FY26/27 wage and compensation schedule to set the treasurer’s hourly wage at $29.00, effective May 17, 2026. The council also adopted Resolution #2026-002a approving amended employee wage rates, also effective May 17, 2026. Both resolutions passed on roll-call votes with all members voting in favor.
In procurement and contracts, the council approved Shumaker Technology Group for a website redesign that includes ADA compliance, and it approved a code-enforcement contract amendment to designate the village code official. The council authorized payment of $8,595.00 to Tunnel Vision Pipeline Services for services rendered.
The council adopted Ordinance No. 47, the Village of Elberta Land Division Ordinance, and accepted a proposed Master Plan future land use map amendment, authorizing distribution for the required 63-day review period. Councilmembers also approved a change of wedding location for July 18, 2026, to allow one event to move to the Elberta Lookout on Bye Street.
Councilmembers authorized purchase of a 2026 Ford F-250 4x4 SuperCab SRW at the quoted amount of $55,698.00, with authority not to exceed $60,830.00. All motions recorded in the minutes show unanimous support where roll-call votes were taken; the minutes note only the one recusal on the payroll item.
The meeting included a series of routine verbal and written reports from the county commissioner, treasurer, clerk, DPW, utility billing and several commissions and committees. An extended five-minute public comment period and community announcements (Frankfort Fire pancake breakfast May 31 and Turtle Fest May 23) closed the agenda. The council adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
