North Oldham Middle students and advisors showcase clubs, KYA and esports to the board

Tyler Lega, one of North Oldham Middle School’s student council advisors, introduced a student-led showcase in which council members and club representatives described activities and outcomes that promote student belonging.
"At North Oldham, our focus is being positively North and we prioritize bringing our Mustangs together," Audrey Williams, student council treasurer, told the board. Student presenters highlighted service projects, club activities, KYA participation and the district’s only esports program. Presentations included a description of a canned food drive, volunteer work supporting local families, and a range of extracurricular options meant to increase student engagement.
The school principal presented survey data indicating that students’ sense of belonging and perceptions of respect from peers have improved over the past three years. "Our data has moved," the principal said, noting that results will be shared with the community.
Board members congratulated the students for their presentations and pledged continued support for student leadership programs and extracurricular opportunities.
