The Tensas Parish School Board on Dec. 4 approved several property actions, including the sale of a 3.53-acre tract adjacent to Tensas Elementary School and authorization to advertise bids for Newellton Elementary School parcels.
President John L. Turner moved to approve the sale of the 3.53-acre tract in Section 16, T11N-R12E to the Tensas Parish Police Jury at $6,500 per acre, a total of $22,945. Joseph Tarver seconded the motion and the minutes record that it passed. The transcript does not record a roll-call or the individual vote tallies.
Separately, on motion by Turner and seconded by Knola Ransome, the board approved advertising for bids on Newellton Elementary School properties with a minimum bid of $67,000 for the school section and $44,000 for the field area. The board also approved setting those minimum bids as part of the advertisement; the minutes do not include bid procedures, timelines or reserve terms.
Board members did not record extended discussion of either property action in the minutes. The board packet or district office should have the full legal descriptions, appraisal materials and instructions to bidders for those items.
