Board approves bond and technology recommendations, adopts amended budget

During the consent-agenda discussion, board members asked for additional information about a payment to a law firm related to a 2014 case and about MISD telecommunications fees; staff said they would provide follow-up details. The consent agenda vote recorded Doss and D'Avila as yes, Herndon no, Cypress yes and Lipsky yes (4 yes, 1 no; two absent were noted earlier in the meeting).
The board also adopted a mid-year amended general fund budget by roll call vote; members Doss, Cyprus, De Villa, Herndon and Lipsky voted yes.
Bond program presenters reviewed progress photos and a punch-list schedule, saying roughly $30 million in contracts have been bid and citing ongoing work on flooring, athletic fields, filtration and HVAC projects, playground installations, roof replacements and control-system upgrades. Staff said many construction-related purchases and upgrades are part of the bond program and included updates on scheduling and next steps.
Board members asked schedule and completion questions (for example, filtration projects coinciding with pool dehumidification work) and received timeline estimates from staff (filtration work to start over spring break and finish in mid-June; site work and landscaping contingent on weather). Staff said the district will return with additional procurement and schedule details as projects progress.
