At its April 23 meeting the Springfield School District board approved several routine items by unanimous votes and heard committee and liaison reports.
The board approved the consent agenda, the personnel report (which included four requests under the Family and Medical Leave Act), and Policies 200 (enrollment) and 918 (Title I family engagement) on second reading; each motion carried 9–0. The board also approved the reappointment of Bernice Clark Dickerson to the Delaware County Community College board of trustees and approved the Springfield High School music department trip scheduled for March 18–22, 2027.
During public comment, Michael Lee (speaker 3) addressed traffic safety near schools after recounting a February 2025 hit‑and‑run that fatally injured a boy and a separate assault on a crossing guard. "The laws of the road are for everyone," Lee said, urging drivers to slow down and exercise caution around school buses and crossings.
Committee reports covered academic and arts updates (including the Modern Band), athletics and facilities work (generator and maintenance projects), finance and audit committee discussion of assessment appeals, and liaison reports from the DCIU and local colleges. The board adjourned after completing the agenda.
