Committee approves parish and park events, audits $5.56 million in checks

The Finance & Property Committee voted to approve three special-event applications and accepted the monthly audit of city bills.
The committee approved a temporary retail Class B fermented malt beverage and temporary retail Class B wine license for Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish, 750 10th Avenue South, for a parish picnic on Aug. 22–23, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff reviewed the application and recommended approval; the motion passed 3–0.
The committee then approved a HeartCry Ministries special event — the “Heart of God” conference — at Robinson Park on Aug. 22, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Staff again confirmed the application was in order and recommended approval; the motion passed 3–0.
A third permit, for Civic Media LLC’s “Soundtrack to Summer” block party in the zoo parking lot on Aug. 26, 2026, with WIRI and WFHR radio, was approved after staff review; the motion passed 3–0.
On routine finance business, the committee audited checks numbered 30213 through 30671 totaling $5,563,682.79 and voted to approve the audit. Committee members voted unanimously to accept the bills audit.
The committee confirmed these routine approvals will be reported to the Common Council as required.
The Finance & Property Committee is scheduled to meet next on Aug. 4 at 5 p.m.
