Hannibal council approves removal of traffic signal at closed Eugene Field School

The Hannibal City Council voted May 5 to remove a traffic signal at the former Eugene Field School crossing and transfer the signal's spare parts to the Board of Public Works.
City Manager Andy Dorian told the council the school has closed and city staff consulted neighbors, the church that purchased the school property, police and fire. "We recommend removing that traffic light and giving the spare parts of the lights to the Board of Public Works," Dorian said, explaining the parts can be reused at other intersections.
Council members asked no substantive follow-up questions and approved the motion by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The transfer will allow the Board of Public Works to redeploy materials rather than procure new parts for other signals.
