The mayor cited recent volunteer statistics: in a three-month period the group logged 185 man-hours and collected 204 bags of trash; McCoy said updated through April the team had logged 275.9 man-hours and collected 273.5 bags and had more than 460 Facebook followers. A volunteer noted the group had to increase its budget for trash bags to keep up with collection.
The proclamation recognizes the group's work and encourages residents to volunteer; McCoy urged anyone interested to contact the group via its Facebook page. No council action was required for the recognition.
