City Administrator Jerry announced a ribbon cutting for the Silvis mural at 1 p.m. on Friday (date provided in the meeting announcement). City Clerk Amy Malmstrom said the Angel Tree currently lists 56 children and noted families also need meal assistance; she asked for volunteers to help with wrapping. The council agreed to split funds recently raised after the closure of Charged coffee shops between the Silvis Food Pantry and families needing Thanksgiving meals.
Public Works & Parks (Joe) updated the council on vehicle maintenance: a dump truck timeline for repair, a bucket truck that is operational, incoming park tiles contingent on reaching a threshold for installation, and that 11 of 12 employees are expected to have CDL certification once the remaining three complete testing. Joe also said the pump track requires substantial maintenance before a planned spring opening. Police Chief VanKlaverren reported on a new community service officer (CSO) and that the department is awaiting parts to repair a department gate. Inspections (Tom) and the Fire Department provided no substantive reports.
