Atascosa County commissioners voted May 26 to approve the 100% engineering plans for a River Oaks Drive flood mitigation project and to authorize advertising for bids tied to a GLO-funded grant.
Rakowitz Engineering's Brad told the court the firm has "been working on this project for some time, to improve the flow over there at River Oaks," and that the GLO and the grant administrator asked the county to approve the plans. He said the county is preparing bid packages and "the only thing that we are waiting on is the final acquisition of that one little parcel of land" before formally going out to bid.
Commissioner Pavelic moved to authorize the advertisement for bids and Commissioner Bowen seconded. The motion carried.
The court and the engineering representative said the county will finalize required property acquisition paperwork before issuing bid documents. No bid schedule or engineer's estimate was read into the record; Brad said staff were "getting the bid package and everything put together" and would proceed when acquisition is complete.
