David Amador opened the DLACH Class of 2026 banquet at PSJA Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School, introducing the PSJA Memorial JROTC Color Guard and salutatorian Gabriel Mata, who led the U.S. and Texas pledges.
Camila Corona delivered the invocation. Amador recognized district and campus leaders including School Board Vice President Yolanda Castillo and a range of assistant superintendents, principals, counselors and college transition specialists.
Dr. Sandra Garza, principal, thanked families and staff and praised students for their perseverance and preparation. Dr. Alejandro Elias, superintendent of schools, congratulated graduates, urged them to stay connected with PSJA resources, and introduced transitional specialists available to assist with financial aid and college planning.
Amy Escalante, a 2020 alumna and associate at the Boston Consulting Group, gave the keynote address, urging graduates to honor their roots in the Rio Grande Valley, pursue opportunities, and remain curious. Organizers presented Escalante with a token of appreciation and acknowledged the Titan Orchestra under Ms. Refrain Munguia for their performance.
The program then recognized dozens of distinguished scholars by name, listing parents, academic honors, associate degrees earned and intended colleges or career plans; a few students announced enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps. The ceremony closed with remarks encouraging graduates to lead with integrity and a ceremonial send-off.
