Fairgrove council approves agenda, purchases and permit reversal; bills and tax collection authorized

Council member Harrison moved, and Council member Spencer seconded, approval of the meeting agenda; the motion carried on a roll call. Council member Spencer moved and R. Thomas seconded approval of the May 4, 2026 minutes; the minutes record a 3‑0‑2 result for that motion.
Financial measures approved included a motion by Harrison to pay listed bills (Dinges $2,079.23; Gugel Tech $1,680.00; MacQueen $2,310.17; Spicer $15,467.00), which the minutes show passed by roll call. The council also authorized the treasurer to collect the 2026 village summer taxes and approved rolling a Roads CD and the Sewer CDARS account into 52‑week terms.
On infrastructure and maintenance actions, the council voted to pursue use of Akron Village’s sewer jetter or explore a joint purchase, following a motion by Sebert. R. Thomas moved to hire Men of Many Trades to repair and replace a roof vent for up to $5,000; the motion carried by roll call with all named members recorded as voting yes. The council approved using Kitchen for a pump replacement at a $3,000 cost as recorded in the minutes, and it approved purchase of two used porta‑potties for no more than $500 plus pickup costs.
The council enacted a blanket ban on overnight parking at all village properties and moved forward on a payment dispute labeled the 'Kennedy Bill.' Code Enforcement Officer Pustizzi recommended mailing notices of violation to property owners; the council also voted to reverse the Main Street pool permit on a motion by R. Thomas, seconded by Harrison.
The meeting concluded after brief audience recognition and discussion of emergency planning for 2027. Spencer moved to adjourn at 8:49 p.m.; R. Thomas seconded and the motion carried. The next regular meeting was scheduled for July 31, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.
