Walkersville EDC approves minutes, welcomes new member and re‑swears returning commissioners; WBPA reports summer reading outreach

The Walkersville Economic Development Commission opened its meeting with a quorum, approved the February meeting minutes by voice vote and took care of membership business, members said.

Chair Linda Morgan called for approval of the minutes; a motion was made and seconded, and the minutes passed with commissioners responding "Aye" and no recorded opposition.

The commission introduced a new member, Aaron Stilwell, and the clerk administered oaths to reappointed members Leanne Tennant and Linda Morgan for terms beginning March 12, 2025. Both Tennant and Morgan answered "I do" during the oath and were asked to sign required paperwork.

Bob Sussman, representing the Walkersville Business & Professional Association, delivered a brief report highlighting the WBPA’s networking activities, recent new members and a presentation by a Frederick County Public Library representative about the county’s summer reading program. Sussman said the library program runs from June 1 through Aug. 15 and asked for prize donations to support local participation.

The commission set upcoming meeting dates — April 28, May 26 and June 23 — and agreed to hold the April meeting at the Southern Railroad site to finalize pop‑up event logistics. The meeting adjourned after closing remarks and thanks to new member Aaron Stilwell.
