The City of Johnstown Planning Board reviewed a conditional retail cannabis dispensary application from NY Cannabis LLC d/b/a Ganja Palace at its May 6 meeting and referred the application to the County Planning Board because the site is located on a state highway.
Mr. Patel, a licensed pharmacist and consultant for NY Cannabis LLC, told the board the operation would be retail only with no growing or processing on-site. He described security measures including approximately 24 surveillance cameras (16 interior, 8 exterior), secure overnight storage in a wall-safe room, and state-approved real-time inventory tracking using BioTrack. Mr. Patel said ID verification would occur at entry and again at point of sale, and that the business had conditional licensing from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management pending final inspection.
The board requested a more detailed floor plan showing interior layout and camera placements. Because the site is on a state highway, the board referred the application to the County Planning Board as required, and scheduled a public hearing for June 13 at 4:00 p.m. Mr. Patel closed his remarks by saying he was willing to comply with all city and state requirements.
