The town manager announced that Kratos has opened a 55,000-square-foot hypersonic systems manufacturing and payload integration facility in Princess Anne and Somerset County, calling the project a major economic win for the town.
Town Manager (speaker 4) read from the company notice, saying the Princess Anne facility "features advanced manufacturing" and is "expected to create new highly skilled jobs in the region and ... accelerate hypersonic technology developing and testing." He told commissioners the location was selected in proximity to federal aerospace assets and praised staff and outside partners for helping secure the project.
Commissioners congratulated staff and credited local coordination. One commissioner said the town is "the envy of many municipalities" to land a tenant of that scale and welcomed the prospect of new employment opportunities closer to home.
The town manager said Kratos and partner teams are preparing a draft action plan for the town and that the company’s representatives or program lead (referred to as Tom) are expected to attend a work session to discuss final plans and next steps. Officials did not release a timetable for site hiring or specific job counts at the meeting.
The announcement followed other routine municipal reports at the Feb. 2 meeting. Town staff indicated they will share more detailed maps and plans in upcoming meetings and that the public can review materials once they are posted.
No formal vote or development permit was recorded in the transcripted segments; the town manager said follow-up meetings and a draft action plan will be provided to the town before the next work session.
