Engineering firm outlines water-tower maintenance options; utility committee to review

Tarin Minkel, P.E., project manager for Dixon Engineering, presented options, general timelines and estimated current costs for maintaining the village’s water tower during the Oct. 13 Edmore Village Council meeting. Minkel outlined how Dixon Engineering works with small communities on inspections, maintenance planning and contracting.
Council members heard that the village currently uses Utility Group Services for water-tower maintenance and that the Utility Committee will meet to review Dixon’s proposal and next steps. No procurement decisions, contract awards, or dollar figures were finalized at the meeting; the matter was placed on the Utility Committee’s Oct. 23 agenda for additional review.
The council did not vote on any contract at the meeting. The Utility Committee’s forthcoming discussion will determine whether the village seeks requests for proposals, changes the current maintenance provider, or schedules work for the coming fiscal year.
