Council liaison reports sewer work, tennis-court security and festival scheduling among town priorities

Peter Nagrod, the Town Council liaison, used the Planning Commission meeting on April 1 to summarize several items before the council and to flag operational issues for follow up.
Nagrod said the council discussed whether to lock the town tennis courts. He also reported that notices for the new Town Administrator position have been posted. Council members noted bridges and culverts in the East Woods are being built and that Town Hall sprinkler-system repairs are progressing. The Gazebo requires handrails, and CircleFest is scheduled on the same day as a private wedding, prompting council consideration of a date change. The Gateway Committee plans additional identity fencing, and there were no new updates on the Commercial Corner project.
Chair Georgette Cole shared Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) documents describing upcoming sewer work in multiple parts of town; Nagrod said Mayor Compton will schedule a meeting with WSSC to discuss potential tree damage from that work. Nagrod also told the commission that council members continue to see too many cars parked on some properties and that a lack of enforcement remains a concern. Robert Johnson raised obtaining a Survey Plat of the town as other business. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Votes at a glance: The Planning Commission approved the meeting agenda (motion by Bob Christin, second by Robert Johnson) and approved the March 2026 minutes with a minor correction (motion by Robert Johnson); both passed 5-0.
