Cedar Grove council approves slate of board and liaison appointments in reorganization meeting

The Cedar Grove Township Council approved a lengthy consent agenda of appointments and council liaison assignments during its July 1, 2024, reorganization meeting. The items were considered individually as required and approved by roll call votes.

Items on the consent agenda (listed by the order read at the meeting) included: appointments to the planning board (class 1, class 3 and council liaison positions); a council liaison to the historical society; a liaison to the health advisory council; a member appointment to the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention Committee; appointments to the library board of trustees; council liaison to the CATV committee; recreation advisory board liaison; council liaisons to the Board of Education; appointments to the Emergency Management Council; members to the rent-leveling board; a council liaison to the Verona Cedar Grove Flood Advisory Control Board; liaison to the Cedar Ridge Senior Citizens Building; and members to the zoning board of adjustment.

Each item was moved and seconded on the record. The roll calls for those items were recorded as affirmative by the clerk in each instance. The transcript shows consistent "Yes" responses from the council during those votes; no "No" or abstention votes were recorded in the portion of the transcript covering the consent agenda.

Because the appointments were taken under the consent agenda with no substantive debate recorded, the council treated each as a procedural matter and advanced each appointment to approval by roll call. The meeting then opened for public comment (no speakers) and adjourned.
