The Calhoun County school board on Wednesday voted to take first reading on 13 policies, four administrative rules and four files presented by Miss Keller.
Miss Keller, who presented the packet, repeatedly told the board, "The information highlighted in red should be removed, and the information highlighted in yellow is the addition," as she summarized changes to policies including IJL (supplementary material selection and adoption), IJNC (school media centers), IJNDAA (distance, online and virtual education), and IJNDB (use of technology resources and instruction). She said the packet also included the library bill of rights and a district Internet/network access agreement for review.
The board chair called for a motion to take first reading on the materials. A board member moved that the board take first reading on the 13 policies, administrative rules and files "presented by Miss Keller on this evening." Miss Keller seconded the motion. The chair called for a voice vote and the ayes carried.
Board members did not discuss substantive edits or vote tallies on the record; the action recorded in open session was a motion to take first reading. The policies and administrative rules were described in the packet as date changes or additions that require review; the board will consider further readings or formal adoption at a later meeting.
The meeting then moved to an executive session to discuss personnel matters.
