Spring Valley School Board appoints Emily Collins to fill vacancy and names Stacy Schultz treasurer

The School Board of the School District of Spring Valley appointed Emily Collins to fill the board vacancy left by Joan Ford and named Board member Stacy Schultz as board treasurer at a Nov. 19 regular meeting.
On a motion by Board member Stacy Schultz, seconded by Monica Shafer, the board voted to appoint Emily Collins to serve the remainder of the term ending April 26, 2025. President Monica Vorlicek made an alternate nomination for Beth Ingli, but that motion received no second. The board recorded the appointment without a roll-call tally in the minutes; the motion carried.
President Monica Vorlicek then moved, seconded by Jennelle Wolf, to appoint Stacy Schultz as School Board Treasurer; that motion also carried.
The board approved consent items including the Oct. 22, 2025 minutes and the October 2025 financial report on a motion by Monica Shafer, seconded by Stacy Schultz. After adjourning to closed session and reconvening, President Vorlicek announced the hiring approvals for Collin Vick (part-time paraprofessional) and Nichole Walton (full-time paraprofessional).
The appointments change the board’s membership ahead of the term expiration on April 26, 2025; the board did not record additional instructions or timelines for swearing in in the meeting minutes. The board’s committee reports included a Policy Committee review on Nov. 13 of recommended Neola policy updates slated for first reading.
The board adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
