Resident asks council to bar removal of items from community building, suggests key for co-op president

At the Oct. 13 council meeting resident Ruth Nash raised two concerns about the community building.
Nash said someone who rented the building before a co-op meeting "removed a large, very ornate old mirror" from the wall and did not replace it. She asked the council to update the rental agreement to prohibit moving or removing fixtures and items, "including but not limited to mirrors, wall decorations and drapes/curtains."
Nash also said the person who organized the last co-op meeting did not obtain the key from city hall; someone found a key and the meeting proceeded. She asked whether the council could give a key to the president of the co-op and make that person responsible for unlocking and relocking the building. The mayor and council members said they were agreeable to the suggestion; the minutes record no formal motion or vote on the key policy during the meeting.
The council took no formal action on rental-agreement language at the meeting; any change to contracts or keys would be implemented by city staff following council direction.
