Little Falls board adopts preliminary 2026 budget, approves tax‑levy override and several routine actions

The Town Board of Little Falls unanimously accepted Local Law #3‑2025 to override the state tax‑levy limit and adopted the Budget Officer’s Tentative Budget for calendar year 2026 as the 2026 preliminary budget during its Sept. 9 meeting.
Supervisor Dan Casler presented a financial report and a tentative 2026 budget and said the board agreed the town should adopt a tax‑levy override. On roll‑call the board approved Resolution #76 accepting Local Law #3‑2025 and Resolution #77 adopting the tentative budget as the preliminary budget; votes were recorded as Ayes from Supervisor Casler and Councilmen Viscomi, Schwasnick, Sullivan and Soules.
The board also authorized the Little Falls Town Court to apply for funding through the New York State Unified Court System’s Justice Court Assistance Program (JCAP) and adopted Resolution #78 allowing a grant application of up to $30,000. The authorization followed a request from Court Clerk Soules and was approved without recorded opposition.
On traffic safety, the board adopted Resolution #79 requesting that the New York State Department of Transportation study traffic and consider reducing the posted speed limit on O’Hara Road. The resolution asks NYSDOT to reduce the limit from 55 mph to 30 mph for an approximately 2,400‑foot segment (from Route 169 to Dice Road) and directs the clerk to submit the request.
The board approved a scheduling change and public notice related to the tax‑levy override: Resolution #80 sets a public hearing on the Local Law for Oct. 8, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the town hall and moves the regular October meeting to the same date.
Supervisor Casler said the board recessed to audit bills and later approved payment of General Bills #92‑102 totaling $2,902.37 (Resolution #82) and Highway Bills #128‑142 totaling $52,493.81 (Resolution #83). The board also tabled action on the town’s 2024 Annual Financial Report to allow additional review.
The meeting proceedings were procedural and unanimous on recorded votes; no contested roll‑call votes were recorded in the transcript.
