Council authorized the town administrator to execute a memorandum of understanding or similar agreement to dovetail the county’s upcoming contractor work on a sidewalk project (near Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary / Kilmer Park corridor) into the town’s project plans.
Director Raymond told council that county staff indicated they could incorporate the town’s plans into their contractor’s scope if the town provides engineered plans and an MOU; the town administrator asked for authorization to execute such an agreement subject to legal review and within budgeted funds. The motion was made, seconded and the ayes carried.
Council members emphasized the speed of developments and the benefit of leveraging county contracting to expedite ADA‑compliant sidewalks for school access; the town will track costs and reimburse the county as needed from available POS (Program Open Space) or concrete funds.
Next steps: Mr. Galloway (town administrator) was authorized to execute the MOU after legal sufficiency review and consistent with budget; staff will track costs and report back to council.
