After closed session, Spring Valley board announces hires and accepts resignations

At its Aug. 20 meeting the School District of Spring Valley Board of Education adjourned to closed session at 7:53 p.m. under Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(c); the motion to enter closed session was made by Jennelle Wolf and seconded by Joan Ford and carried by roll call vote. The board reconvened to open session at 8:22 p.m. by motion of Joan Ford, seconded by Jennelle Wolf, carried by roll call vote.
After reconvening, President Monica Vorlicek announced board-approved hirings and resignations. The approved hirings were Lori Kapping as English Language Coordinator; Jeff Furrer as substitute teacher; and Sylvia Holmstrom as substitute CKC director/lead teacher. The board accepted resignations from Kiyah Krueger (food service dishwasher), Royce Baier (custodian), and Gable Frandsen (high school wrestling head coach). The minutes record the personnel actions but do not include employment start dates, contract lengths or severance/compensation details.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:24 p.m. The minutes were recorded by Recording Secretary Cristy Peavey and the minutes were later approved by the board on Sept. 17, 2025. The minutes list Board member Jessica Fritz as absent; the signature block also lists "Jessica Fritz, Clerk," which appears inconsistent with the attendance notation in the same minutes.
