Spring Valley board adopts nondiscrimination policy, approves policy series and bylaws publication

The School District of Spring Valley Board of Education performed multiple policy actions at its Aug. 20 meeting. The board completed a second reading of Policy 2266, Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities, and approved the policy following a motion by Monica Shafer and a second from Jennelle Wolf.
Later in the meeting the board performed a second reading of the Policy series 5000 and 7000 and approved the series on a motion by Stacy Schultz, seconded by Monica Shafer. The minutes record that the board then approved a resolution moved by Jennelle Wolf and seconded by Monica Shafer to publish the district's bylaws and policies on the district website on or about Sept. 15, 2025 and to rescind bylaws and policies previously adopted. The resolution in the minutes reads in part: "RESOLVED, that the bylaws and policies to be published on the District website www.springvalley.k12.wi.us on/about September 15, 2025 and codified in the comprehensive document entitled Bylaws and Policies of the School District of Spring Valley Board of Education; are hereby adopted and that all bylaws and policies heretofore adopted by the School District of Spring Valley Board of Education are hereby rescinded..." The resolution also includes language that, if any policy or bylaw is declared inconsistent with law or invalidated by a court or contract, the remaining bylaws and policies remain in effect.
