Spring Valley reviews bridge grant, disaster funds and road repairs; treasurer reports $344,060 balance

Under old business the board reviewed a bill from VIP for submitting a bridge grant application; supervisors said the bridge design will probably be a culvert. Because of recent flood damage, some repairs will be done before emergency state funds are received for safety reasons. The town noted that Rock County will carry out disaster work, which may slow regular road maintenance this summer.
The town was asked to share crack‑filling work with the Town of Avon at a total estimated cost of about $3,000, split approximately $1,500 each. The board also discussed locating a turnaround for the Wyatt Road snowplow; flood damage has slowed progress on that work.
Treasurer Betty Anderson reported a current balance of $344,060.13 and total expenses of $31,098.43 as of April 30, 2026. She told the board she would like to transition some accounts to the Bank of Brodhead because of features such as positive pay; she said the town would maintain accounts at both banks during the transition.
The board approved payment of bills totaling $33,375.01 (motion by Supervisor Dave Brethauer, seconded by Supervisor Micah Ends) by a 3-0 vote.
