The Spooner City Council approved two zoning amendments and confirmed a conditional use permit for a property on W Maple St.
Koverman presented the Plan Commission's recommendations. The first amendment (Chapter 26, Sec. 26-6) revises the fire-inspector duties so the fire chief is required to perform one annual commercial fire inspection rather than two; the change is intended to allow the chief to focus on buildings that require more time and to avoid potential funding loss tied to strict inspection schedules. The council approved the amendment by motion (Lake/Parker).
The second amendment (Chapter 86, Article III, Div. 8, Sec. 86-303) reduces certain setbacks in Industrial B zoning to allow more efficient land use; Koverman noted multiple meetings had informed this change and Councilmember Lake thanked the Plan Commission for its work. The motion (Everroad/Oja) to adopt the amendment passed.
Separately, the Plan Commission's findings of fact supporting a conditional use permit for 530 W Maple St. (applicant M. Kelly) were accepted as part of the consent agenda; the permit allows a single-family residence in an R-3 (multifamily) zone and the submitted materials showed the required setback was met.
All zoning items were approved at the meeting; implementation details and any further administrative steps will follow according to municipal procedures.
