Johnson explained that a contracted engineer’s plan omitted an elevation change and lacked sufficient inlets at the intersection; the state is pursuing the engineer’s Errors and Omissions insurance. Johnson said the city would have only a small amount of cost exposure if the engineer’s E&O coverage does not resolve the claim. The official project completion date is Oct. 10, 2025, but staff said they hope to finish before the school year starts.
Council discussion focused on the technical correction (catch basins and curb-line realignment near Triangle Park) and on settling any costs after insurance and E&O processes conclude. No formal vote was recorded on cost allocation during the meeting.
