At the July 21 meeting, the Southern Door County School District board took several formal actions. Chair (speaker 2) moved and trustees voted to approve the Act 12 annual report, which the administration will submit to DPI before the July 31 deadline. Director of People Services Dave Desmond explained the Act 12 reporting requirements and noted the district had one incident last year that resulted in a citation (a controlled-substance incident early in the school year).
The board considered the consent agenda, which included minutes, financial reports, donations, curriculum adoption and athletic code items. Committee member (speaker 4) requested Item 6 (the Act 118 seclusion and restraint annual report) be pulled for discussion after identifying a slide with incorrect numbers in the executive summary. Administration acknowledged the slide error and confirmed the corrected figures would be used; the board then voted to accept Item 6 following that clarification.
The board also approved personnel recommendations as presented, including resignations and hires across support and professional roles and a set of co-curricular and volunteer coaching appointments. Motions were carried by roll-call votes consistent with ordinary board procedure and recorded as approved.
