Town appoints ethics board member, approves seasonal hires and employee training

Supervisor Gil Piaquadio presented a draft Public Nuisance law for review and then sought board approval to fill an Ethics Board vacancy. The board appointed Lee Zawistowski to the Ethics Board to complete the term expiring July 2025 after Michael Schreiber’s resignation; the motion was moved by Councilman Scott Manley and passed 5–0.
Parks and Recreation Commissioner James Presutti requested authorization to hire the listed seasonal recreation aides for the period June 2 through Sept. 7, 2025. New hires are subject to fingerprints, paperwork and drug/alcohol testing; returning staff are required to complete paperwork and testing. The board approved the hires unanimously.
Town Clerk Lisa M. Vance Ayers asked to begin the hiring process for a part‑time clerk as appropriated in the 2025 budget; the board authorized starting the process. Code Compliance Supervisor Gerald Canfield presented competitive quotes for defensive driving training and recommended Hunter Insurance Services at $24 per person; the board approved that vendor at the stated price.
