Board signs multiple infrastructure change orders and awards drainage contract
Summary
The Town Board approved a $22,531 change order for recreation center electrical and site work related to Central Hudson, a $52,492.33 change order for Colden Park water main repairs, awarded a $33,860 annual drainage-district maintenance contract to MTTJ Property Maintenance, and approved a construction time extension for Levinson Heights watermain work to June 13, 2025.
Patrick J. Hines, the town’s representative engineer, presented several public-works items and change orders. The board approved Newburgh Recreation Center Change Order 08 to pay for unforeseen electrical rework and additional tree removal needed for Central Hudson utility connections in the amount of $22,531.00.
Hines also presented Colden Park Water Main Replacement Project Change Order #2 for Regal Utility Services to repair underground facilities damaged during excavation; the board approved that change order in the amount of $52,492.33. Hines explained that the repair work resulted from conditions found out of tolerance from field utility markouts.
On drainage maintenance, the town advertised for bids for maintenance of ten drainage districts to meet post-construction MS4 permit requirements. MTTJ Property Maintenance was the sole bidder and proposed an annual cost of $33,860 based on a specified mowing schedule and options for two additional years; the board awarded the 2025 Drainage District Maintenance contract to MTTJ.
The board also approved a request from contractor Arold Construction to extend substantial completion for the Levinson Heights — Old Post Road Area Watermain Extension (Job #24-105) from April 15, 2025 to a new physical completion date of June 13, 2025, citing that several residences had not executed license agreements in time for the original completion date. All motions on these items passed unanimously, 5–0.
