"Our quotes range from about 198,000 up to, approximately 290,000," Raymond said, noting that the largest difference is whether a rubber safety surfacing is used.
Staff proposed community outreach — potentially one to three public meetings plus virtual sessions — to solicit feedback on equipment and surfacing options. Several councilmembers urged public input, saying it would both gather preferences and raise community awareness. One councilmember suggested early outreach through neighborhood associations.
Raymond said the town will explore cooperative purchasing options and seeks to balance durability, safety, and budget constraints. He also noted the town will try to schedule a meet‑and‑greet or public presentation in the near term and return to the council with refined cost estimates and a recommended scope.
Next steps: staff will arrange public input sessions, publish the renderings online, and report back with recommended contract actions to align the final design with the awarded grant.
