An organizer outlined the town’s 4th annual Chevrolet Day (Aug. 10, noon–4 p.m.) and said food for attendees will be provided free of charge. Council and staff confirmed allocations for vendors and entertainment and agreed the consent-agenda item and check timing would align with the Aug. 8 town meeting.
On pedestrian safety, staff told council the goal is to install a permanent crosswalk at Hillside Avenue; if that is not possible within two weeks, a temporary bump crossing will be used until the permanent crosswalk is installed.
Councilmember Wade asked for a vote to designate the Landover Road site as a town recreation area and to begin a planning and naming process. Councilors discussed whether to first designate the space as a park and then use the Neighborhood Design Center and community meetings to develop a master plan; staff agreed to bring a consent agenda item to the August meeting to start the formal process.
Next steps: staff will finalize Chevrolet Day logistics, proceed with the crosswalk plan, and prepare a consent agenda item to initiate the Landover Road park-designation process and related outreach and planning.
