Police: speed camera to begin citations Monday; warrants lead to arrest in string of burglaries

On criminal investigations, the chief credited Assistant Chief Kraus and partner agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and Prince George's County investigators, for arresting a suspect alleged to be responsible for a string of burglaries both inside and outside the town. The suspect named in the meeting was Angelo Scott; the chief said the arrest followed multiagency detective work and the execution of warrants and that investigators recovered numerous items and cell phones to be examined further.
The chief also noted National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Chevrolet Station from 6 to 8 p.m. and referenced ongoing staffing and hiring updates in the written report.
Council members thanked the department for the arrest and asked about increased patrols in apartment-complex areas; the chief said targeted operations and uniform presence would be used as needed.
Next steps: the police department will begin issuing speed-camera citations on the stated start date and continue investigative work on recovered evidence.
