A Brownie troop asked the Cheverly Town Council on July 11 to repair the larger swings at Towne Park and to add swings accessible to children who use wheelchairs.
Troop 22029, represented at the meeting by its leader and several girls, presented letters and short statements urging action. "Adelaide has written a letter that's asking you to please fix the swings in Towne Park," the troop leader said. Multiple children described broken swings and safety concerns and suggested bake sales or other fundraisers to help pay for repairs.
Mayor (addressing the troop) thanked the group and said the council could "take that into consideration and possibly get that taken care of pretty quickly," and invited the troop to a future ribbon-cutting when repairs were completed.
The request came during the resident input portion of the meeting. Council members said they would look into the issue and follow up with staff; Councilwoman Bridal later confirmed staff would investigate the playground swing condition.
There was no formal motion or vote tied to the request during the meeting. The next steps are expected to be an inquiry by parks or public works staff to assess damage, cost, and schedule for repairs and any accommodations for accessible swings.
