The Cabot School Board voted unanimously Sept. 16 to approve the 2025–2026 school year budget and a series of agreements and property actions presented by Superintendent Michael Byrd.
The board approved the budget "as presented, including all State Categorical and Federal budgets," on a 6-0 vote after a motion by Sally Beebe and a second by Joe Trusty. Board President Sarah Owen presided over the meeting.
Why it matters: The budget funds district operations for the coming school year and underpins hiring, transportation, and planned facilities work included in the 2026 Facilities Master Plan that the board also approved.
In the same meeting the board took the following actions, each by unanimous vote: - Approved a Joint Use Agreement between the Cabot School District and Cabot Parks and Recreation (motion by James Hertzog, second by Pam Clem). - Approved an updated mutual aid agreement with the Cabot Police Department (motion by Marvin Jones, second by James Hertzog). - Approved a resolution to recycle or dispose of obsolete technology equipment and remove the items from district inventory. - Approved the sale and removal from inventory of a 2010 Ford E-150 van from the maintenance department and several food-service choppers as presented. - Approved the 2026 Facilities Master Plan and the 2027–2029 partnership applications (motion by Marvin Jones, second by Joe Trusty). - Approved two employee disclosures for the 2025–2026 school year (see details below). - Approved personnel as presented and adjourned at 9:19 p.m.
Employee disclosures: The board approved disclosures listing relationships with Peeples Brothers Supply: Dawn Peeples listed "Husband — Peeples Brothers Supply, $2,000" and Brooke Carter listed "Father, Husband — Peeples Brothers Supply, $2,000." The disclosures were presented to the board and accepted as part of the personnel packet.
